confession.

i like oprah.

once, i took a day off of work to stay home with holly & co. to do the stay-at-home-mom thing... we went to lunch, watched the kiddies, and... at the strike of 4 o' clock, we tuned into oprah.

another confession:

lara bought me a subscription to the oprah mag one year and i loved it.

yet another:

when i was in college, i wrote a paper on "sensationalism in television" and cited oprah all over the place.

and finally:

in 2005, i put the oprah 20th anniversary dvd on my christmas wish list. 17 hours of oprah. heaven. celebrity interviews, the charities, the giveaways and favorite things, the angel network, current {for its time} events that shocked and awed america, the hairstyles, the wardrobe, africa... it had it all. my mom made me promise i'd keep it a secret... that i wouldn't tell anyone that i actually owned that, or that she bought it for me. four years later, the secret's out. sorry mom.

side story: i used a clip from this dvd for a lesson in church once. {i promise it wasn't done inappropriately.} i prefaced the clip with an apology to the dudes "sorry you have to watch oprah." one dude clapped and said, "oh, yippee... i love oprah." and right there - in church, i learned something new about myself. i learned that i could NEVER EVER bring a man home that clapped and cheered for oprah. he wouldn't last a minute in my house... with four brothers and a dad who like to shoot small animals, sharpen knives for leisure, and watch ONLY the r-rated with extensive violence. no, a man oprah crush would not fly. not for five minutes, not for eternity.

not sure why it took me this long, but i finally added oprah to the dvr queue. it's the best of both worlds - i talk to strangers by day AND watch oprah by night.

i love my life.
