The 14-year-old aspiring pop star has revealed that she has been teased so relentlessly since the video came out that she's had to leave her school and start home schooling.

She told ABC's Nightline: "When I walk by they'll start singing 'Friday' in a really nasally voice. Or, you know, they'll be like, 'Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?'"

Now Rebecca's teacher is her mother, Georgina Marquez, who says her daughter "certainly did not need that kind of pressure." To be sure, Rebecca's success has been bittersweet. The Internet hate got so bad at one point that the FBI was brought in to investigate death threats, her mother said.

"It's hard because everyone wants to say 'Oh my God, I'm this big star now,'" Rebecca said. "But I don't see it that way. I'm still the same 14-year-old girl that loves to hang out with her friends."

Falling victim to the torment of teenage bullying, Rebecca Black has reportedly been pulled out of school because of "constant harassment."

The "Friday" singer will now be taught by her teacher mom, Georgina Marquez, following nonstop teasing she says she endured after her overnight YouTube success.

While talking with ABC News, Rebecca explained the issues she faced while traveling the halls last spring, telling, “When I walk by they’ll start singing ‘Friday’ in a really nasally voice. Or, you know, they'll be like, ‘Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?’”

Black finds the persistent pestering even more puzzling because she doesn't see herself as a famous figure, as she told, “It’s hard because everyone wants to say, ‘Oh my God, I’m this big star now. But I don’t see it that way. I’m still the same 14-year-old girl that loves to hang out with her friends."

The singer said about her second release: "'Friday' was such a hit. And so, to get something, you have to find the perfect song that kind of tells off the haters a little bit, but still shows that you're a serious artist," she said (via CBS).

Yes, thats right. There's laws made about getting a tattoo. Be aware though that it's usually different in other states and countries, so this is a LOCAL post on FLORIDA tattoo laws. Any law can be researched and look up HERE!

According to everytattoo.com, the florida law states things such as

(1) The supervising physician, osteopathic physician, or dentist, initially upon assuming duties as the supervisor and semiannually thereafter, shall review and inspect the techniques, procedures, and equipment utilized by the tattooist in the performance of tattooing


(3) No body of a minor shall be <tattooed without the written notarized consent of the parent or legal guardian.


(2) The supervising physician, osteopathic physician, or dentist shall
provide semi-annual training for the tattooist in the areas of infection
control, sterilization, and emergency procedures.




Basically, you have to be 18 or older, the artist has to be certified and only clean tools allowed. Any other information on this law can be found at everytattoo.com and of course and .gov site on laws!

arts and crafts

have you ever had one of those moments where you're like, "that is such a great idea!". and then you follow through with the plan and you're like, "what was i thinking?!". i had one of those moments today.

we are studying SPACE in class - my favourite unit - and we are learning about constellations. so i decided it would be a great idea to use white paint to make a splatter painting on white paper and then when it dries, we can connect the stars to make constellations.

so the stars look great, but the room - not so much! the table and floor are covered and so is ms. emily's dress!

but we had fun!! :) i'll let you know how the constellations look when we're done!

oh bother

so, i am home. after a week in singapore, hong kong, and macau, i am home in saigon.
i got home, did laundry, caught up on my favourite blogs, checked out my facebook, read some emails, thought about eating dinner, and thought about calling my mom for mothers day. here are some realizations i had throughout this process:
1. i am an internet addict. i had many shows to download and many blogs to read (thanks linds!). and i missed it!! so what?! sue me!
2. it is stinking hot here. 45 degrees at 7:45 pm. the cool of hong kong is greatly missed.
3. i have lots to do this week. starting a new unit on space, get ready for final report cards, prepare for art for action, write a few post cards, prepare flat justin for his trip home, guests coming tomorrow for a few days, ay ay ay!!
4. and most importantly, i am a chicken. there is something in my bathroom. it is making chirping noises. i don't know where it is hiding and i don't know what it is. what i do know is that kelly is not home and i am scared! so i closed my bathroom door and decided i will be using kelly's bathroom and sleeping with earplugs tonight.

rain, rain, go away!

my class really is fantastic. i've been thinking more and more lately, just how lucky i am. and i really have nothing to complain about that's for sure!! people often come into my class and are so impressed with how well they are working and with what they have accomplished this year. other teachers come in and comment on how quietly they work or how independent they are and sometimes i wonder what the heck they see that i don't see. but if i take a moment and look at the big picture, it's true. they are amazing. and i guess it's because of my high expectations of them that i don't see it as often as i should, but my kids rock!

so that brings me to today's story. well actually it happened yesterday. we have swimming on friday at 1:35 so we are ready to go around 1:25. they had their swimsuits on, towels over their shoulders, goggles in hand by about 1:22. at approximately 1:23 it started to POUR! like we are talking full-fledged, rainy season is BACK, pouring cats and dogs, RAIN. this is of course followed by thunder and lightning. so i had to make the "bad guy decision". sorry boys and girls, no swimming today!

but it's been such a long time since it rained here and they were all so interested in the rain so i took them outside under the shelter of the covered sidewalk and we watched the rain. at first it was raining really hard and they were squealing with delight. then there was a huge crack of thunder and few of the timid ones took a step closer to the building. some were building up their courage to step up and stick their hands out into the refreshing rain. and i had an urge. i really, really wanted to take them out to play in the rain. imagine how fun it would have been to take 16 five year olds out into the POURING rain in their bathing suits!! however, my logical side kicked in to remind me that the parents here would NOT love that. they are big on the "change in weather causes colds". i am more on the "germs cause colds" belief but who am i to say?! anyway, i was sad that we couldn't play but there wasn't much i could do.

i was just about to take them inside when they had a moment. a "man i love these kids" moment. they all started singing together, "rain, rain, go away, come again another day!". over and over. and they were so happy and hopeful that their chanting would make the sun come out so that they could go swimming. it just reminded me how cool they are and even though it didn't work, and it kept raining, they gave it a shot!

as we went back inside and i had them change back into their uniforms, one boy asked me, "ms. emily, is it raining because the sky is crying?" "yes, it is!" i replied. how could i say no to that?

complaint free SKB....well kinda....

we're working really hard at being complaint free in skb. they are doing a great job actually. what's funny is that my kids are wearing their bracelets on their ankles, cause they are too big for their wrists. so when they have to change legs, it's a huge process. maybe that's why they have stopped complaining! hahaha

anyway, just wanted to share this picture with you. they are pretty much the cutest!!

A Complaint Free World

you're going to love this. i promise!

so at our school, we have started a new initiative as part of our character education. by the end of the week, all of the students at CIS will officially be part of an attempt to make a Complaint Free World.

how it works. everyone, teachers and students, gets a purple bracelet (like the liveSTRONG bracelets), and if you complain, you have to move the bracelet to your other arm and start over. The goal is to keep the bracelet on the same arm for 21 days - that's NO COMPLAINING for 21 days!!! scientists believe that it takes 21 days to make something a habit, so after 21 days you will have established a habit of being complaint free!

i think it's a great idea and a big challenge for teachers - maybe even more than the students!! however, i've read some reviews from schools that have tried it and they all comment on what a positive change this program has made in their schools.

so, we started on monday. my bracelet has moved everyday. i'm going to keep trying though. someday i hope to blog about my 21 days of being complaint free!!! and i'm working on my SK's. "that's complaining!" we'll get there. just think of it... a complaint free classroom!
