Lomo cameras have always fascinated me. They are made by a Russian optics company started early in the 20th century. By defintion, the act of using a Lomo is:
Lomography emphasizes casual, snapshot photography. Characteristics such as over-saturated colors, off-kilter exposure, blurring, “happy accidents,” and alternative film processing are often considered part of the “Lomographic Technique.”
It’s this laid back, casual style of photography with little regard to rules or specific technique that is appealing. The funky colors from cross-processing film, heavy vignetting from poorly built plastic lenses on some models and unique functionality of how they work makes just shooting them fun.
In this collection of 21 cool and colorful Lomo photographs, many are shot on Lomo cameras, however a few are digital images that have been altered to replicate the look and feel of Lomo. In the spirit of embracing the end result, they too were included. Lomography continues to grow in popularity, both with film shooters and with digital shooters who alter their images to look as if they were shot on a Lomo.
