the.interview:anna-louise

Today, I would like to introduce you to another friend and blogger, Anna Atkinson from Anna-Louise, click here to view her blog. Anna lives in Cape Town and is freelancing for Fairlady magazine. As you can see by her blog, Anna loves all things trendy and beautiful. I did a little Q&A with here and so here is a little more info about Anna...

1.     Why did you start blogging?
My inspiration to start blogging came from the movie Julie and Julia. For those of you who haven’t seen the movie it’s basically about a young New Yorker Julie Powell, who aspires to cook all 524 recipes of chef- Julia Child’s cookbook in 365 days and blog about it. I had just gotten into baking, so I thought I’d blog about recipes I’ve tried, fashion and other pretty things in my life.

2.     What inspires you to blog regularly?
A lot of things inspire me to blog daily- new fashion trends, new recipes, a new item of clothing I have my eye on or even just the “thought for the day” I try post daily…

3.     Would you get a tattoo, what and where?
NO,  I wouldn’t get a tattoo.  Not because I don’t like them but mainly because I don’t think I would suit it - and also I don’t think I could handle the pain, apparently they are really sore?  But when I look at someone like Kat von D, from Miami Ink- I think she looks really cool and suits all those tattoos.

4.     What is the craziest thing you've ever done?
Craziest thing.. I’m not a crazy girl. I could never jump out a plane or anything along those lines. I’m a huge baby when it comes to those things. One holiday, I remember, my family and I were in Thailand and my dad made me go parasailing, you know when you go behind a boat on a parachute- I cried the whole 5 minutes I was up in the sky.

5.     If you could be a singer or rock star, who would you want to be like?
I’d defiantly be Lady Gaga.

6.     If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be with and why?
Right now, I’d love to have lunch with Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen so she could tell me all that went down weeks before the royal wedding and what went into making Kate Middleton’s wedding dress.

the.interview:bitsofcarey

Today I'd like to introduce you to a friend and food blogger. Carey Boucher Erasmus is a chef with her own food blog called bitsofcarey, click here to view her blog. Carey lives in Cape Town and works at the Pick 'n Pay Good Food Studio as a food consultant and she also writes a feature for crushmagonline. Here is a little more about Carey...

1.    Why did you start blogging?
To network with like-minded people (people in the food industry)

2.    What inspires you to blog regularly?
Other than the fact that I’m addicted and life feels out of sorts when I don’t, I get inspiration from the people around me, the workplace (at a cookery school), eating out(from a boerewors stand to a fine dining restaurant), having dinner at friends’ homes. Also, I have loyal readers that I don’t want to disappoint.

3.    Would you get a tattoo, what and where?
I never wanted one, a year ago, I woke and decided it was time. It’s on my upper back in the centre. It’s an infinity sign with vines growing around it with a date underneath it. The date is the day I had a bone marrow transplant to overcome leukemia. I am 4 years in remission. Go figure what the tat means.

4.    What is the craziest thing you've ever done?
Mmm.. I went to a 3 day “Reading festival” (huge music festival) in Bristol on my own. With my little chamo tent, cooler box and stuff. Why, I went on my own? Friends were not as passionate about seeing “Muse” etc as I was. Tickets were sold out, but I managed to get a ticket double the price – another crazy thing.) Me, amongst 20 000 people I didn’t know! Was fun though.

5.    If there is one thing you could accomplish in 2011, what is it?
To be an established food writer with lots of styling gigs and other opportunities.

6.    If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be with and why?
Jamie Oliver, I think he’ll be a laugh a minute, also I’d make him cook for me and then I’d convince him why I should be his food stylist for all his cookbooks – ching ching. Haha!

the.interview:che.kershaw.

Today I'd like to introduce to you another friend and avid blogger, Che Kershaw from IndieBerries. Che is the person who initially inspired me to start a blog, and start blogging. IndieBerries is always entertaining, creative and lots of fun to read - it is one of my daily reads. Che is living in South Korea and teaching English, and she seems to be having a ball.
I did a little Q&A with Che over email and here is a little bit more about her....
1. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I had a whole bunch of creativity in me and no-where to put it... It was a time in my life when I was ready for a fresh new start – so I started a blog :) It was also initially intended to promote my Etsy store (http://www.etsy.com/shop/justche?ga_search_query=justche&ga_search_type=seller_usernames), but it’s moved past that and I’ve become more focused on ‘blogging for blogging’

2. What inspires you to blog regularly?
Knowing that people are looking forward to my cartoons and posts is the main reason that keeps me blogging regularly. It’s tough though – sometimes I don’t feel like drawing a cartoon or writing a post – but knowing that people like what I do is a huge motivator. Comments and emails are so lovely to receive to remind you it’s worth it :)
(When I have time – I try and make extra posts/cartoons and store them to post later – which really helps)

3. Would you get a tattoo, what and where?
I already have a small tattoo – which I got done in Thailand – it’s very special to me :)
For my next one I’m thinking about three small symbols down the side of my wrist… small outline of Africa, a heart and a peace sign or a fancy letter C… still deciding… But best we keep that on the low-down from Mommy and Daddy-Berries ;)

4. What is the craziest thing you've ever done?
1. Flown across the world literally for the weekend to attend the blog awards in Cape Town.
2. Been carted down a ski-slope strapped into a bright-orange body bag
3. Bitten my friends foot in a bar… and my tooth subsequently falling out… (it’s a long story.)

5. If you had 48hours left to live, what would you do?
Fly home to see my family.

6. If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be with and why?
Jamie Oliver if he’s cooking.
And Edward Monkton if Jamie is out of town.

the.interview:tori.tatham.

I am starting a new feature on my blog called 'the interview'.
Today is my first candidate, a fellow blogger and a family friend, Tori Tatham from kiss, blush and tell. Tori lives in Cape Town and is working at Ogilvy in advertising. I did a little Q&A with her over email and here is a little more info about Tori.....

1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging in 2009 – I really wasn’t very good at it but it all started then.

2. What inspires you to blog regularly?
I have been slack of late, with holidays, new job etc – but my new year’s resolution is to blog regularly, if that counts!  The thing that inspires me most about blogging regularly is getting feedback from people, whether it be an acknowledgement on twitter or someone saying how they went to a restaurant because of my review. It’s exciting.

3. Would you get a tattoo, what and where?
No I wouldn’t, purely because I want to look nice when I’m a granny. But if I weren’t concerned about that and I had a second life I would definitely have a pretty feminine sleeve. That’s a big IF. But seen this look amazing on other girls i.e. The Royale waitresses!

4. What is the craziest thing you've ever done?
I am the furthest thing from a  dare devil so I don’t tend to do crazy things like bungy jumping etc. Craziest thing right now is the fact that I have entered the 2 oceans and running 3km’s at gym just about sends me into a coma.

5. What are your Valentine's Day plans?
I am being treated to a special lunch on a wine farm in Stellenbosch/Franschoek called Delaire. We are doing this on Sunday so we can enjoy the wine tasting too. Delaire looks amazing! And then on the actual night I will probably just cook dinner at home, which I love doing.

6. If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be with and why?
I know its one person but I would love to meet up with Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and Peaches Geldof all at once because I would love to hear their stories and most importantly see their wardrobes. I love a mixture of how all three of these girls dress – bar Peaches on a trashy night out!

And here is some of Tori's interview inspired pictures....
